Advice on Google AdWords Pay-Per-Click (PPC): Top 5 tips

For our customers doing one of our AdWords campaigns, here are a few tips to get the best return from your website marketing. Once we drive traffic to your site you will need to try and maximise conversion, to convert the visitors to ordering customers. Much of this is about having an effective product presentation in those area that are being advertised. Here are the top 5 things to look at.

SEO and AdWords 1. Clear Pictures

Pictures should be as good as they can be. Make them as large and as clear as possible, particularly in the zoom.

SEO and AdWords 2. In Stock

Ensure stock is available. Don’t let any show out of stock, it can put people off looking for other products. Connect allows you to: 'Only show prducts that are in stock'. Use this unless you have a specific plan to do otherwise.

SEO and AdWords 3. Appealing Pricing

Get the pricing right. Look at some competitors and see what price they are selling at. In Google use the same search terms that are being used in your AdWords campaign to find relevant competitors. Just look at the first pageof Google and select 3 competitors, pick out those that stand out the most. Select 3 products frmo the range and compare prices.

Put discounts on some or all of your products if needed. With the automated SAVE indicator in Connect, discounts looks really appealing online and visitors feel they are getting a better deal. They may be less compelled to look elsewhere if they know they are getting a deal with you.

SEO and AdWords 4. Deep Range

Get as deep a range as you can do for those areas being advertised. What tends to work on the internet is more depth and less breadth. For example, if you sell Bedddy Bears, have a really deep range of products. When someone is looking for beddy bears on Google and they land on your website, they will have a good choice and will be more likely to buy. Look at your other ranges, where can they be deepened to give more choice around a niche area.

SEO and AdWords 5. Romace in the Description

Make sure your descriptions are appealing, you can tell a story about a product online, something that is hard to do in a shop. For example onyx jewellery: do a bit of research on the internet, create a brief story about onxy and add it to the extended descriptions. Put a bit or romance into it. Make the person feel they are buying something special and they can even recount the story to the recipient. There will be lots of good info on the internet, just type in onxy, it only takes a few minutes. Wikipedia is usually on the front page of Google and is a good starting point.
