Wear it Pink 2010

Fashion Fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Campaign

Wear it Pink Day

Intelligent Retail was delighted to take part in Wear it Pink day on Friday 29th October 2010.

Every year, thousands of people turn up to work and school dressed in pink in a nationwide day of fundraising for Breast Cancer Campaign. This charity currently funds around 106 world-class research projects worth £16.3 million in 38 centres of excellence across the UK and Ireland. According to current estimates, one woman in nine in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. Every piece of research funded by Wear it Pink represents a vital step towards improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

Everyone in the office looked splendid on the day, sporting everything from pink shirts and scarves to feather boas and cowboy hats. Our combined donations raised a total of £90 this year, all of which will go towards funding the latest in cutting edge research.

Anyone who wishes to learn more about the campaign's past successes and current grants can visit the achievements and publications pages on the official site for lots more information - including a free download of this quarter's Focus magazine, containing the latest research news and a fascinating interview with Paul Burstow, Minister of State for Care Services in the Department of Health. The Government is currently running a number of studies through the National Institute for Health Research, and has promised a Cancer Drugs Fund starting April 2011 with the intention of improving patient access to expensive treatments. If this initiative is a success, there'll be all the more to celebrate when Wear it Pink 2011 rolls around.
