Great idea for seasonal promotions
Simple but effective marketing idea for retailers
Innovative promotional ideas can be hard to come by, but this is a reeally good one. This is from Bob at Whizzbang training.
He suggests that even though it's early December, now is the time to start marking down Christmas goods. Identify the items that will still be hanging around your stockroom on December 26th and take the markdown NOW. You'll sell more of them and sell them at a higher margin than if you wait until after the holiday has passed.
Here is a wonderful idea for taking holiday markdowns AND making it fun for your customers.
"Every year I have a "12 Days of Christmas" promotion at my shop. Each of the twelve days leading up to Christmas I have one featured item on super-sale for that day only. I make it a good one.
Customers come in daily to check and see what's on sale that day. They usually want to know what's on sale the next day... but I never tell. Or they'll ask if a particular item will be on sale later on, and of course, I never tell that, either!
Now different office managers call me in the morning to find out what's on sale that day and get the word out to their employees.
When I first started doing this promotion, I was just trying to move things that needed a push, but now I "shop" for it in advance.
This is a fun, easy promotion you can plan today. Just make a list of twelve items you're overstocked in or that you think would make a great sale item, assign each a date, and print up some signs.

Plan to email your customers the special of the day on each of the twelve days. Make it a quick, one-paragraph email with a really catchy subject line.
